We stand against gender-based violence, even when it occurs outside the workplace
Plenitude’s workforce is made up of 50% women employees, with over 43% of women holding managerial positions. Were there any challenges in achieving this milestone?
The results we have achieved are the outcome of a structured journey shared across the entire organization over the past four years. Gender balance and the presence of women in leadership roles are important indicators, but they represent only two of the many dimensions on which we focus to enhance and strengthen female leadership. The year 2024 marked an important milestone: we obtained gender equality certification, a result that required deep and progressive engagement from our top management and the entire company population. We set ambitious goals that, in some cases, called for targeted investments, including those aimed at reducing the gender pay gap. Among the main challenges we faced was the search for female candidates for technical roles — an area where market availability remains relatively limited, which can sometimes affect recruitment timelines. However, we made a conscious choice not to compromise, as we believe that quality and equity in team composition are essential to building a solid, innovative, and sustainable organization in the long term. We also view these dynamics with an awareness of their positive impact on our attractiveness as an employer and our overall competitiveness. These achievements serve as further motivation to continue working on development opportunities, female representation in leadership roles, and the ongoing reduction of the gender pay gap. Our commitment continues, driven by the understanding that promoting equity and equal opportunities requires continuous, cross-cutting, and measurable action.
Plenitude offers support to employees who are victims of violence through free psychological and legal counseling services, a 24/7 helpline, flexible working arrangements, paid leave, and financial assistance.
Exactly. Plenitude enforces the Zero Tolerance Policy against violence and harassment in the workplace, introduced by Eni in 2021 across all its subsidiaries. This policy defines the fundamental and non-negotiable principles needed to ensure a professional environment that is safe, respectful, and free from any form of violence or harassment. To support this policy, a dedicated email inbox and telephone line have been established, both managed by a specialized team with the goal of providing listening, guidance, and assistance to anyone in need. In 2025, Plenitude — in line with Eni — further strengthened its commitment by extending the scope of its protection measures to include situations of violence occurring outside the workplace. In this context, the helpline serves as a unique point of reference for all women employees who may need support. Concrete protection measures have been introduced, including the possibility of relocation, flexible working hours or role changes, paid leave, and financial support to cover emergency accommodation or legal assistance costs. Through these initiatives, the Company reaffirms its dedication to promoting a safe and inclusive work environment and to actively contributing to the prevention and elimination of gender-based violence, even when it occurs beyond the boundaries of the workplace.
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Plenitude launched the Ballshit initiative (in collaboration with the basketball team Olimpia Milano) to raise awareness about gender stereotypes and economic violence. How did this project come about?
On 21 November 2024, at the Unipol Forum in Assago, Plenitude took the court with Ballshit, an initiative created in partnership with Olimpia Milano, with whom the company has shared a valuable collaboration since 2022. The goal was to engage the public and spark reflection on gender stereotypes and economic violence. During the warm-up of the EuroLeague match between Olimpia Milano and Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olimpia’s players used five special basketballs, each hand-painted by five illustrators: Costanza Starrabba, Elisa Puglielli, Isabella Bersellini, Martina Filippella, and Shut Up Claudia. The artists were selected to portray, through their designs, some of the most common discriminatory expressions associated with various forms of gender-based violence — particularly economic violence. The illustrations featured on the basketballs were also printed on t-shirts distributed to fans at the Forum during the game. To further expand the project’s reach, Ballshit continued after the match: from 25 to 30 November, the basketballs were displayed at Plenitude’s Flagship Store in Milan, while the t-shirts were made available in all Plenitude Flagship Stores across Italy. Plenitude also reaffirmed its active commitment to combating all forms of discrimination by introducing a new chapter of the initiative: on 8 March, the Ballshit concept evolved into stress balls — smaller in size but equally powerful in message — designed to symbolically crush the stereotypes and offensive expressions that still persist in our society.
Let’s talk about economic violence: how did Plenitude’s employees respond to your training program A Journey Towards Economic Awareness?
Also on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Plenitude organized an internal event focused on economic violence, one of the many forms in which gender-based violence can manifest. In collaboration with Rame, a media company dedicated to promoting financial well-being, Plenitude launched the program A Journey Towards Economic Awareness, aimed at enhancing economic awareness among all its people. The initiative combined training and personal development with a broader social commitment, as part of Plenitude’s ongoing Diversity & Inclusion efforts. Many employees took part in events, workshops, and discussion sessions held across Plenitude’s offices in Italy and abroad. The company then celebrated the closing event on the International Women’s Rights Day. Promoting economic awareness is a key driver in fostering autonomy and empowerment, and this initiative represented a way for Plenitude to reaffirm its vision of a future in which everyone can turn their personal goals into tangible opportunities for growth, freedom, and independence.
