The Milan public transport company (ATM) has recently obtained UNI/PdR 125:2022, the Gender Equality certification. This journey, launched in 2024, was carried out through activities of analysis, monitoring, and reporting of corporate management systems and involved the Group’s companies based in Italy (ATM, CityLink, Gesam, NET – Nord Est Trasporti, and Rail Diagnostics).

The certification process assessed six areas:

  1. culture and strategy,
  2. governance,
  3. human resources management processes,
  4. opportunities for women’s growth and inclusion,
  5. pay equity,
  6. protection of parenthood and work–life balance.

In addition, an internal Steering Committee was established with the task of identifying and monitoring all the actions necessary to ensure compliance with the standard.

Obtaining the certification represents, for the Group, recognition of its commitment to gender equality and workplace inclusion, pursued through policies such as achieving pay equity, a comprehensive welfare system offering 360-degree support, initiatives supporting parenthood, and opportunities for professional growth.

Furthermore, in line with the principles of respect and inclusion, the ATM Group has provided training to more than 700 managers and drafted Behavioural Guidelines, including a Code of Conduct specifically aimed at preventing harassment in the workplace, as well as establishing the role of the Trusted Advisor—an external professional dedicated to listening to and safeguarding employees.

In addition, ATM has carried out numerous communication campaigns, and in November received the Gender Equality Award from Assolombarda, with the special mention “Communication and Social Impact,” for transforming communication into a tool for inclusion and mutual respect both inside and outside the company.
