Once it was recognized that people are resources — perhaps the most important resource of all — the need to take care of them arose naturally, not only in terms of professional development and protection but also, and above all, regarding physical and psychological well-being. For this reason, in 2017 Banco BPM launched W@W – Wellbeing @ Work, a project designed to promote and spread a culture of care and healthy, sustainable lifestyles for the well-being of both people and the environment.

The Banco BPM Group firmly believes in the dynamic nature of well-being, which therefore requires constant promotion and action. Above all, well-being manifests itself in all aspects of human life: being healthy means feeling good physically, mentally, and in relationships with others — knowing how to take care of oneself and others. Through the W@W project, colleagues have access to practical tools and dedicated platforms for information, welfare services, and work–life balance initiatives. As is only right, every initiative begins with awareness: Banco BPM promotes dedicated campaigns on the importance of a healthy and balanced diet, combined with an appropriate level of physical activity, also actively participating in events such as European Mobility Week, the annual European Commission initiative promoting sustainable urban mobility and active travel.

In addition, the bank has introduced healthier food options in its workplace refreshment areas, developed various training courses on specific topics (such as nutrition throughout different life stages, the importance of exercise and hydration), and launched awareness campaigns aligned with these goals. The courses are mainly delivered through the Banco BPM Academy platform and are taught by professionals from various fields. Since 2017, over 35,000 hours of lessons have been offered, benefiting more than 8,000 participants. Beyond online training, for about two years the company has also partnered with an external provider to offer employees — mostly free of charge — a package of consultations with nutritionists, fitness coaches, smoking cessation therapists, posture educators, and psychologists, both internal and external to the organization.

Thanks to these initiatives, in 2023 Banco BPM was awarded the HCF – Health Company Friendly seal by the Fondazione Onda, an important recognition granted to companies that actively care for their people’s well-being. This certification also allows participation in health prevention campaigns, offering free medical check-ups at affiliated hospitals. Banco BPM is committed to continuing its dedication to the health and well-being of its people, supporting their long-term wellness — both inside and outside the company.
